The digital wallet mTasku changes owners

The transaction will bring significant changes to the range of services offered in mTasku.

mTasku logo

mTasku is a digital wallet solution developed by Telia that has been operating in Estonia since 2016 and is used by nearly 100,000 people today. The most valued services of mTasku are the virtual loyalty cards of several popular companies such as Kaubamaja Group’s Partnerkaart, Alexela’s loyal customer card and Estravel’s loyal customer card.

Telia is handing the app over to its partner Moneery OÜ. With the transaction, Moneery will assume the entire management and development of the mTasku line of business, and all rights and obligations related to mTasku will also transfer to the new owner. Active partners and investors of the new owner of mTasku, Moneery OÜ, are Risto Solman and Karol Kovanen. Solman has served as the technical architect of mTasku since the beginning of the project through the developer of the app, Datanor, and Kovanen has extensive business management experience in service business both in Estonia and the surrounding region. The new owners promise to continue improving the platform and the user experience and are diligently looking for new partners.

According to the head of Telia’s Business Client Department, the company’s sales decision was based on the fact that mTasku is not related to Telia’s core business, which is why it may not receive all the attention necessary for further development. In order to develop and grow quickly and to offer new opportunities to customers, mTasku requires full dedication and industry-specific knowledge. The new owner meets these conditions and we can be sure that mTasku will go into good hands.

Most of the options available in the mTasku app will remain the same for the user, meaning that mTasku can still be used to pay for purchases, make donations and add various bank cards and loyal customer cards to the mobile wallet. As the only exception, services based on NFC SIM-card will come to an end in mTasku. This means that Public Transport Card and access services for institutions can no longer be used with mTasku. Hopefully the new owner will bring a new more modern virtual Public Transport Card that is independent of NFC SIM-card to mTasku.
